20 km from settlement Chernomorskoye, 80 km from Yevpatoriya, between villages Medvedevo and Znamenskoye locates the ancient Greek-Scythian Fortress Belyaus. It is one of the most interesting architectural monuments of Western coast of Crimea. The fortress existed and functioned during the period with IV BC to I AD. Throughout 40 years, mainly during the summer period, on excavations of the Fortress Beljaus have been working archeologists. Thanks their work a site of ancient settlement are well enough studied and many walls, ladders, grain holes, wells and even the whole streets restored.
The settlement had a tower with the powerful walls erected from square stone blocks. The part from them has remained to the present day. Something excavation of a site of ancient settlement of Belyaus reminds the more well-known analogue - Chersonese Taurian in Sevastopol.
